When you think of Christmas what comes to mind?
For me it would be gifts, family gatherings, and great food. Every family has their own traditions in how they exchange gifts, when they get together, and certain staples of their holiday meals. For our family, we do three get-togethers each Christmas. We usually gather at my sister’s house on the evening before Christmas Eve to exchange gifts. Then, we go to my in-laws on Christmas Day for a traditional Christmas dinner. Lastly, we go back to my sister’s house for a big pasta meal on Christmas evening.
Our family events are scheduled to allow us to have Christmas Eve and Christmas morning free to make sure all of Santa’s work is done for our kids.
Of course, it would help if we could actually get them to fall asleep before midnight. The pasta meal to close things out is a nice change of pace. By the time Christmas day is complete, most people have eaten several helpings of all the traditional Christmas dishes. So, a nice plate of lasagna or spaghetti definitely hits the spot.
Christmas Favorites on the REC TEC
While I love my sister’s lasagna, for me, nothing beats Christmas dinner.
The entire family chips in to make enough food for an army! My wife makes the best squash casserole around and the kids love her corn casserole too. My mother-in-law does the turkey and dressing, and my sister-in-law has become famous for her array of desserts that she comes up with each year. I, being the proud owner of a REC TEC, am usually in charge of making a big, beautiful glazed ham. Years ago, I would cheat and simply swing by and pick up a ham... But now that I've joined the REC TEC family, I have spent the last few years perfecting a glazed ham that gets my mouth watering just thinking about it. I have tried many different ways of preparing the glaze and the ham itself. But I always go back to the main reason I love my REC TEC... It is super easy to use and the food tastes amazing every single time. Therefore, with my glazed ham, I try to keep it simple. My theory on this was validated recently when Chef John showed me how he prepares his Holiday Glazed Ham. The recipe was super easy. The grill does all the work and after one bite of this juicy ham, you will not go another Christmas without making one for your family.
