We are excited to host REC TEC Academy 2020 at our brand new facility in Evans, GA! Whether you are a BBQ beginner or a seasoned pit master, this three-day academy will provide you with multiple tips, tricks, and secrets of the competition BBQ circuit through hands-on instruction. During the weekend of June 4 – 6, you will learn how to prepare and box Grand Champion-caliber brisket, pork, ribs, and chicken. The classes will cover meat selection, trimming, injections, seasonings, times, temperatures, sauce application, and knife sharpening. There will also be exclusive merchandise, free swag, and giveaways for attendees. Come meet your favorite REC TEC guys and spend a weekend learning from the best alongside the REC TEC family!

Can beginners come to REC TEC Academy?
Yes! This class is designed for pit masters and backyard grillers alike.
What types of meats will be included in instruction?
We will instruct you on competition brisket, ribs, pork, and chicken following KCBS and IBCA guidelines. We will also share some awesome backyard recipe favorites!
What will the weekend schedule look like?
(4 p.m. – 8 p.m.) Optional meet & greet at REC TEC

(8 a.m. - 9 a.m.) Light breakfast provided

Where is REC TEC Academy?
REC TEC Academy will be held in Evans, GA (a suburb of Augusta, GA). It will take place at the REC TEC Worldwide Headquarters. We have an Academy kitchen indoors, so weather will not be an issue.

What do I need to bring?
Nothing! All food and other course materials will be provided for you. Bring your checkbook if you plan to do any shopping while you are here.
How much does REC TEC Academy cost?
The price of one ticket is $1198 + applicable taxes determined at checkout.
How many spots are available in each class?
Each class is limited to 30 seats.
Is there a discount if multiple people want to register?

What do I get for that ticket price?
You will be entitled to 3 days of BBQ fun and in-depth, hands-on BBQ instruction from some of the best cooks in the grilling world. You will learn the KCBS and IBCA timelines and boxing. The classes will cover meat selection, trimming, injections, seasonings, times, temperatures, sauce application, various secrets, tips, and tricks.
All meals will be provided.
Open bar available during certain times each day.
Registration packages will include a REC TEC Academy apron, recipes taught at the event, and other REC TEC and sponsor swag.

What if I need to cancel after I register?
We understand that things come up and will work with you to the best of our ability.
Any cancellation more than 20 days prior to the event date will receive a full refund.
Any cancellation 20 days or less from the event date will receive a 50% refund.
Can this be purchased as a gift?
Yes! However, be aware that we will be emailing and mailing information such as hotel accommodations, etc.
Who are the instructors of REC TEC Academy?
Ray Carnes – Co-Founder, REC TEC
Ray Carnes is the co-founder of REC TEC. He founded the company with lifelong friend Ron Cundy in 2009 and has since built REC TEC into the premier pellet grill company in the industry. Ray can often be seen on our YouTube channel, sharing delicious recipes and setting the record straight about our products.
Jody Flanagan – Resident REC TEC expert and personality
Jody Flanagan is our REC TEC Expert, where he can be seen on all social media platforms, including the weekly Funday Friday program. He also serves as our Public Relations Manager. Jody has years of experience in the cooking industry and enjoys the art of grilling just as much as he loves the REC TEC Lifestyle.
Chef Greg Mueller – REC TEC chef and personality
Greg Mueller is a WORLDCHEFS-certified master chef, and the Director of Culinary Innovation at REC TEC. He has over 18 years of experience and is knowledgeable in all things food and cooking.
Chef John Pannell – REC TEC chef and personality
John Pannell is a classically trained chef and currently serves as REC TEC’s Culinary Innovation Specialist. He has been a member of the REC TEC Family for over a year. Chef John can be seen occasionally filling in as guest host for Funday Friday, as well as on his very own live show, Mix It Up Monday.
Alongside our core group of knowledgeable and entertaining hosts, we will have additional BBQ team representatives from across the country as special guest instructors.

Ernest Servantes is a well respected chef, Grand Champion pit master, winner and judge of Food Network's Chopped Grill Masters.
Carlo Casanova - Casanova Barbecue Company
Carlo is a World Grand Champion pit master and has been a competitor on the BBQ competition circuit for over 10 years. His BBQ team caters groups large and small. Recently, he competed with other Texas pit masters on Food Network's Grill Masters.
Roddy and Sarah Trevino - RodStarr BBQ
Roddy and Sara are Grand Champion pit masters and Food Network's World Food Championship fixture. They can be found at all large competitions with their family.
Jim and Jan Burg - Killer B's BBQ
Jim and Jan hold multiple Grand Champion titles including Grand Champion of the Sam's Club National BBQ Tour in 2013, the KCBS's largest sanctioned competition in Bentonville, AR.

Where can I stay in Augusta?
We will have special pricing available at different area hotels. This information will be provided to you after the purchase of your ticket.
We will also offer overnight RV parking and/or camping at REC TEC. At this time, we are unable to provide power or water hook-ups. We will allow access to our company restroom and shower facilities 24/7.
Can I shop in REC TEC retail while attending REC TEC Academy?
Absolutely. We will have a private shopping experience where we close our retail center to the public for REC TEC Academy attendees only. We will also have exclusive REC TEC Academy items that can only be purchased by attendees while at the event!
