Our grill arrived well packaged and was a piece of cake to assemble. Within a few hours we were grilling some tri-tip. This is our first experience with a pellet grill and so far we have been very happy. We look forward to more grills and jealousy within the neighborhood!

I was impressed before the grill arrived by the personal phone call from Rec Tec thanking me for my purchase and to let me know that there would be a business card in the packet that came with the grill that included 24x7 cell phone numbers for any questions that may arise.
The grill arrived and man, is it impressive. From the large stainless screws to the rollerblade type wheels, to the beautiful horns that adorn the front. It's such a pretty sight!
My first cook was boring chicken, but it wasn't boring on the grill smoked for a while using hickory pellets. Mighty tasty. The second cook was a rack of ribs... Those didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but my new best friend, the butcher at our gourmet grocery store indicated that was due to the ribs themselves. He talked me into a Tri Tip. I smoked that yesterday until the temp showed 125 deg and it was absolutely perfect. I took it to a gathering last night and there wasn't any left. Today I threw on a pork tenderloin with a bacon weave. It's resting right now and smells 'to-die-for' good.
The impressive thing about this grill is not only how easy it is to keep clean, but the way that the temperature is maintained throughout the complete cooking time. Friends with a Traeger complain that they have to constantly watch it to make sure the temps don't sway too much.
What a great decision to buy this grill. I asked for the searing racks for my birthday next week, so will look forward to see how those work... It's a damned shame that there's only two of us, plus dogs or else I'd be doing a lot more cooking.
Buy it... you won't regret it!

Both of my daughters have another brand of pellet grill and not to take away from the competitors product (they both are happy with their purchase) after using theirs and researching my purchase I choose the RecTec and am very happy with the choice. From the initial purchase to shipping and delivery, assembly and the good part, cooking in it I am very pleased.
I even have to give UPS and their driver a thumbs up. Delivered it on a short tractor trailer that could navigate my neighborhood (had to wait 3 days for this vehicle to be available in my area) with a lift gate and pallet jack. Driver unloaded it rolled it down my driveway and sat it in my garage.
My only problem is wanting to experiment with trying cook everything I can think of. Waistline beware.
Love this grill.

Let's see, I just got this grill about 10 days ago. I just did my 5th meal on it. I did the bacon to season it, then smoked some sausage the same night. The following day I did 4 racks of St Louis ribs, 4 different flavours, and no rib rack required. Last weekend I did two Boston butts, delicious! Yesterday I did three racks of ribs, fall off the bone excellent. Today for the holiday, I did sweet sausage, hot sausage, and hot dogs on the Rec Tec. I had an electric smoker before, it wouldn't get hot enough. I bought a grill with a smoker in it, wasn't big enough. Then a vertical propane smoker, wasn't wide enought. I then tried to convert my grill, still had flare ups and I had to babysit it for Thanksgiving. Brrr. This is the best investment for smoking I have made. Great grill/smoker. My only request is I would like to see them make in the states. I would gladly pay extra for products make in the U.S. and help feed American families.

From pork butts to hoagies, we have tried it all on our new Rec Tec. The "normal" smoking meats come out better than you expect. But the non-normal foods are what creates a buzz at our dinner table. Smoked hoagies were a hit with the kids!! This smoker rocks the house and then some.

Well, I have turned out some truly amazing BBQ on this equipment. At first I thought I might have a defective controller because everything takes longer to cook than the pellet cookbook says it will. My first attempt was a whole chicken that was a disaster -- I had to cut it into pieces because it was still raw on the inside after 2 hours at 325! But I verified that the internal temperature was correct by putting a probe in a bucket of dry sand and letting the grill run for a couple of hours. It was spot-on. So maybe the problem is the cookbook?
Last weekend I had a "coming out" party for the new grill. I started a brisket the night before, and the day of I made spare ribs, turkey drumsticks (brined overnight), and a turkey breast. The brisket and drumsticks were absolutely outstanding. The ribs were merely great. :-) The breast was good but not in the same league as the other three meats. Many, many compliments from the guests.
Love the grill but it's definitely not something you use for a weeknight dinner. You can't predict how long it's going to take something to cook. But if you've got a whole day (or better yet, a night), you can turn out some amazing smoked meat.
