What I was looking for in a smoker was ease of use, versatility and durability. I think the Rec Tec grill meets those requirements and much more for under $1000.00.
Having never cooked on a smoker, I needed something that would allow me to make delicious meals without becoming a “BBQ Pit Master”.
If you can read and follow a recipe from a book or the Internet, you can create amazing dishes with this grill.
I have cooked pizza, chicken, pork butt, etc. on this grill with excellent results. Heck, I even smoked hotdogs for the kids. They said they were yummy. (I didn’t try them because I was too busy eating pulled pork.)
• Extremely consistent temperatures
• Can be used as a grill, smoker or convection oven
• Well build and very sturdy
• Economical pellet burn (I would invest in a welder’s blanker (sold on Amazon) for outside temperatures below 30 degrees as you will burn more pellets than usual if you do not.
• Armatures like myself can use it and product great results.
• You will spend more money on meat as you will use the darn thing all the time

After years of smoking with an old school barrel smoker that required constant attention throughout the smoking process, I decided to upgrade to a pellet grill. Friends and family directed me to Rec Tec.
This unit is everything that I read about. It is built like a tank and the customer service is the best.
I haven't put it t a full test, yet, but a lower temp smoke worked for the salmon, the bone-in turkey breast came out well as did the brisket that I treated my coworkers to.
More to come.

Down here in the great state of Texas we love our smoked meat. For 30 plus years I have been staying up all night feeding wood into my stick smoker. Not to mention running all over buying and hauling wood. Those days are over for me, the fed-ex guy leaves my pellets at the front door, I set my temp on my rec tec and go to bed... What a GREAT way to enjoy smoking not to mention the end results taste great..Thanks for a terrific grill..

I have had the grill for a month and am very pleased with the ease of use and performance. First, it was not difficult to assemble the grill with the assistance of the video on the Rec Tec website. My brother-in-law has a Green Mountain Grill (GMG) that I considered long with other models including Yoder. I picked the Rec Tec due to its described features (no dealer so I had to do a lot of research and trust the reviews and videos), price point and appearance. I was not disappointed. The grill is solid and performs as described. The GMG was too flimsly. While the Yoder may be thicker and heavier, the difference to me was not important because I prefer the more efficient pellet burn rate of the Rec Tec (1-1.5 lbs/hour compared to 2.5-3 lbs/hour).
Second, the grill is very easy to use even I am new to indirect grilling/smoking. I have grilled pork butt, brisket, chuck roast, fish, crab legs, stuffed jalapenos and bacon. In most cases, the results have been spectacular. On the occasion when the chuck roast did not come out as tender as I anticipated (I believe due to my inexperience and lack of familiarity with "low and slow" grilling, my wife saved the roast in a crock pot and we had some of the most flavorful pulled roast (as opposed to pulled pork) sandwiches I have ever encountered.
Finally, I have an existing Lynx gas grill with infra red searing function that has been virtually ignored since getting the Rec Tec. I am looking forward to using the Rec Tec in combination with the gas grill sear feature to see what I can get out of a good ribeye.

I have had my Rec Tec grill for 2 weeks. I have used it in 10 degree weather with no issues. I have smoked spare ribs a pork tenderloin and baked potatoes. They were all fantastic. My wife said that she is looking forward to what ever I choose for Sunday dinner.
I would recommend this grill to anyone!

WE love our grill! It went together easy..buy the way, out here on Camano Island I live on a dead end road..had to meet the big rig and we got this into the back of my Prius! It was a site, but I gotter done! And better than that..customer service could not be better! Any company that will give you their private cell phone numbers is at the top of my list! And so VERY nice! Thanks again.

The RecTec is fantastic. Very well build, excellent customer service, and a real performer. It excels at smoking and also grilling while keeping the meat extremely moist. I have never had chicken or beef stay as moist as it does on the RecTec.

The grill arrived within a week of ordering and assembly was quite easy. If you ever assembled something from IKEA you will appreciate how simple this is to get up and running. Build quality is so much more formidable and solid than other grills that I had considered. I've used it a number of times and the other reviews were true. It's difficult to mess up your meal. I would definitely put this grill on your short list when you are considering what to buy.

This grill is just amazing took me about an hour to put it together. After that I did th burn in and seasoned it with a couple rounds of bacon. First cook was super bowl Sunday with a house full. Best steaks I have ever cooked no worries of flare up or over cooking. Everyone raved about them that night. Next cook smoked a couple of butts never have done it before. Turned out amazing. If you are considering this grill buy it!!!!!

Been cooking many years and using gas and charcoal for most of that time. Then a few years back I got the opportunity to use a Rec-Tec at a gathering we hold each year. We also had a Yoder and a MAC to use at the same time, so a back to back test was very easy.
After using all three I found the Rec-Tec to be ahead of the pack. Easy to use, holds 40 lbs of pellets and is the large cooking area allowed for many different cooks at one time. But what really sold me on the Rec-Tec was the fact that the Rec-Tec's we were using were a few years old and showed some wear but NEVER FAILED to start or maintain the temp set for the four days we used them.
We used these same units for three years and still no issues. These are built like tanks!
Add the fact of a SIX year warranty and it's a NO BRAINER.

This is, he best grill I have ever owned. It makes me look like a pit master. Made pork ribs for my first run and they came out better than any rib restrant I have ever eaten at. The one ; ng O wish came with it was some recipients. I would recommend this grill to anyone.

I just wanted to give you guys a first impression review of what I received. I picked up the starter pack. Basically the grill, grill cover and 80# of pellets. I like smoking with pecan so I picked some of those pellets up elsewhere.
Anyways everything was very well packaged with foam and there was no way it was moving. The plastic handles on the boxes fell into the box but I had no plans of picking it up that way in the first place.
I got right into putting it together. The instructions were very easy to follow. The only issue I ran into was that the allen screws for the pull handle were a different size than the 2 allen wrenches provided. Not an issue at all (if you're ordering this badass grill, you have tools) just thought I would mention it.
I was very surprised to see that the Xtreme smoke option was on the grill and that was the only thing that I heard most pellet grills need to do better is more smoke, so I was very excited.
I got it all put together (pretty heavy) plugged it in and ran through the startup process. It was very easy. The only other comment I would like to make there is that it would be nice that each pellet hopper side was segregated so that you could mix say pecan/hickory half and half (maybe not something everyone does). Also, what to do if I want to change pellets to something different for say fish, but that's something that every pellet grill has not just Rec Tec. I fired it up, set it to 400, and seasoned it with a good run of bacon on there.
Then over the weekend I smoked two sets of baby back ribs on there. The amount of room on this grill is amazing. You can fit a complete Sunday dinner on there. They came out great with a beautiful smoke ring using the Xtreme smoke option. The best part was that I could set them on the grill and go do anything else I wanted to. Which that weekend was tearing shingles off my roof to prepare for new ones. If I was smoking with my old setup I would not have been able to do so. I used the 3-2-1 method, and they came out wonderful.
Last night Grilled some chicken breasts and they came out so juicy. I was very impressed.
One other slight concern I have is the grill cover. Is there a better trick to install and removal than what I'm doing? It seems to take some work to get it off and on and I'm afraid I'm going to tear it. It fits perfectly don't get me wrong, but Maybe just a little too perfectly. Any help there would be appreciated.
Overall. I couldn't not be happier with my purchase. It's glorious. I'm not sure I'm going to use my oven and it's the dead of winter right now. I can't wait to try more recipes on the grill.
Thank you so much!!

ive been smoking briskets and shoulders for about 15 years in the northeast on a weber smokey mountain. I've spent years tweaking and experimenting, and finally have gotten into a routine where quality is consistently good. The wsm is awesome don't get me wrong. But the problem in the northeast is that weather makes it tough for the thin metal of the wsm to consistently hold in heat for long stretches of time. So I spend more time than I should nursing the temperature, and since I prefer to smoke in the winter i am subject to the elements in a big way.
So enter the rectec. I put three shoulders on the smoker at 5pm the night before the super bowl, and for those not in my neck of the woods, it was cold, really cold (low single digits, and below zero with wind). All I can say is the rectec absolutely crushed it. I held the shoulders at 225 for 23 hours, and never once went outside to check the temp, only occasionally heading out to inject and admire. The mechanics are simple but consistent and reliable. The thick steel holds heat very well.
The shoulders were perfect, 205 with a crisp bark on the outside and a thick pink smoke ring inside. I was told this cook was my best work. Great product rectec guys. I'm impressed by the whole package.

I bought a Trager from Costco and after several uses the the grill could no longer keep temperature. We were reading reviews on the Trager about the same temperature issue and RecTec's name came up over and over about being a superior grill. After looking over the features ordered the RT-680. With in a hour i got a phone call from RecTec confirming the order and shipping. Shipping took less than a week by ground. Grill was packaged well and RecTec even threw in a free bag of pellets! Installation was a breeze and after the 1 hour burn in we started cooking on it. Besides the fact the food is amazing the grill can hold a temperature to the degree! Its super easy to start up, easy to clean and looks awesome. Its easily the best grill for the money in my opinion.

I have been reading about this smoker for 1.5years and I finally just made the plunge and bought it. It showed up in Michigan within 2 days and I took delivery on the 4th day. I received a personal phone call letting me know that my grill had shipped not just an email. The customer service is amazing. This grills craftsmanship is amazing. It's solid and heavy. Not a single part is weak or lack quality.
I haver a BGE and I couldn't imagine anyting cooking better than it. I was wrong! The Rec Tec cooks/smokes as good if not better. I prefer the Rec Tec because I get great tasting moist food without a 45 minute startup process. If you have a ceramic smoker you know how hard it is to get it started, up to temp and find the sweet spot for the temp you are looking for. With my Rec Tec I push a button and walk away. It holds the temp just as good as my BGE for long cooks too. I seriously couldn't recommend it enough. You wont be sorry!!!!

This is truly a beautiful grill with excellent construction. Also like that the folks at RECTEC were so personable. Have had many cuts of meat on the RECTEC and all have been great. I'm having to adjust my style a bit and include some extra time for some things but the taste is worth it: fantastic. Can't wait for Turkeyday-have to do a dry run in the spring!

Did a lot of research in order to find the perfect smoker-grill, was not disappointed in my final choice. The product and customer support have been outstanding. This is BBQ at it's best. I actually believe it is impossible to cook bad food on this grill. Even the simplest of meat (burgers and Hot Dogs) are taken to a new level. Excellent job REC TEC!!!

Extraordinary! Product and customer service. Ordered thursday before Thanksgiving and arrived wenesday before Thanksgiving,(All way to New England!) cooked the BEST turkey ever!
I have Bbq'd and/or smoked ribs, salmon, game hens, whole chicken, chicken wings (OMG GOOD), potatoes, bacon, pork belly, duck, pizza (on a stone), steak (finished over charcoal), rib roast, all to juicy perfection!
Without question the best made and convenient grill I have owned.(I am over 50)
I have added a "Smoke Daddy" unit to my Rec Tec to get a satisfactory smoke level though. I find the "extreme Smoke" function to really not be anything near extreme!
There was a small flaw with the unit which was resolved promptly by a very courteous member of their team, and fast shipment of a new auger motor...Kudos
Overall I can't think of a better thing I have purchased to take my Bbq to a new / easier dimension! Thanks Rec Tec!!!!!

Anyone looking for a smoker, the Rec Tec grill is the superior choice. This is truly a set it and forget it smoker and delivers perfect meat everytime with very little effort. It has plenty of cooking space, maintains temperature consistently, easy to clean, efficient, great temperature range (I've seared steaks on it) and probably the best part is the quality and customer service. The Rec Tec team is more than helpful, honest and deliver a well built product. Me personally, I will never own another smoker besides a Rev Tec. Once you purchase from these guys the customer service doesn't stop there, it continues like you are part of their family. Don't settle for inferior products and service.

The REC TEC intrigued me because of it's innovation. I was hooked by watching the videos of how to cook like a master chef with ease. I appreciate the amount of time Ray and his team have put into promoting this grill. When I finally purchased one, I was very pleased with the build quality and attention to detail on the grill. I look forward to learning more about preparing great meals on my new grill.
One thing to keep in mind though. This is not a gas grill or a charcoal grill. This thing is in a class of its own. It operates with convection heat and smoking by purpose. When you open the lid, the grill temp can drop 100 degrees. It will heat back up but keep from fanning the lid by constantly checking your food! Get a remote temp probe so you can check the meat without opening the lid. The art is in the timing as if you were baking a cake. Prepare your meat, put it on the grill, and leave it alone! Follow the videos for some great ideas and procedures!

This is by far the best grill/smoker purchase I have ever made. I researched for a month or more and it came down to the RECTEC and I'm glad it did. I love the ease of starting and cooking. Thus far I have grilled steaks burgers and dawgs. Smoked a rack of ribs anf a beer in the rear chicken and even a Chris Lilly recipe for chicken and sausage pizza. Everything has come out better and with more flavor than from any grill or smoker I have ever owned. I have told all of my friends about it and they are looking into the RECTEC for their next grill purchase. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!

After a great deal of research I chose this grill. It arrived in about a week. This is a very well built, sturdy and cool looking grill. Itr is my first pekkey smoker. I have other charcoal smokers and wanted to add trhis to my collection. My first smoke with this grill was a pork loin. Cooked it low and slow and it came out great. The thing I really like on how this is a set it and forget it grill. Came off the grill within 10 minutes of the timw I planed and had a great taste and smoke ring. I supplemented the smoke with the smoke tube and some apple pellets. If you are on the fence I woul recommend this grill. You wont regret it.

I bought this grill blind at first, not knowing anybody that had or used one. I did a lot of research looking for the perfect smoker grill. Have tried all the top line pellet grills, because my family is very big into grilling. So I wanted better. The first time I cooked withy new rec rec about a year ago, I was shocked on how easy and good it did. It's actually hard to screw meats up on this grill. I absolutely love it. Puts out amazing smoke rings on the meat. Everything is always juicy. No real hot spots. And the best part is the customer service. I've never had cs this good. Would never go to another grill again. Thank you tec tec and keep it up!

I previously purchased a Traeger Lil Tex and the barrel rotted out in 1 1/2 years.
In addition, after being covered for 10 days while it rained, the pellets cemented the auger so it was inoperable.
Trager sent a new barrel but told me that I didn't clean/disassemble the auger appropriately (my son and I have undergraduate degrees and spent a combined 5 hours trying to take the rusted thing apart and cleaning it).
The Traeger is supposed to be warranted for 3 years but I threw it in the trash after being insulted by Traeger customer support.
Don't make the same mistake I did, the Rec Tec is superior - easier to assemble, holds more pellets, electrical connections cleaner and easier and just made sturdier. And, the inside light is a great touch.
Only con is that the cover is really tight and a bit of a challenge to put on.

I have smoked 3 briskets so far and have been pleased with the performance of the Grill. I have noticed a little grease leaking out the sides because the drip pan does not cover the whole grill rack area, but overall the temp is always consistent and the briskets turned out great.

Awesome Grill, I have several friends with other pellet grills (they were what motivated me to get one) and they are all regretting their purchases after seeing my new RecTec. Great quality super easy to use. Great looking and produces awesome results. On top of all this RecTec provides outstanding customer service

I had a buddy recommend this grill to me; I'm a little frugal so while I saved my money, I recommended it to another buddy. I got so tired of the two of them telling me how awesome their Rec Tec's were, that I bit the bullet and got one earlier than I had anticipated. Could not be happier. The only thing holding this grill back is me, and I'm learning more about grilling every weekend. I expect good savings just from not flaming up and burning our food anymore. Can't wait to do serious stuff like prime rib and butts.

Have had the smoker/grill about 3 weeks. My husband, who put it together, said he was very impressed with the quality, heavy duty construction. I've smoked beef jerkey twice and ribs. Grilled pork loin and hamburgers - everything has turned out great. We had purchased a Traeger from costco, but was very unhappy with the swing of temperature, so retuned it and bought the Rec Tec instead, amazing difference. Cost a couple hundred more, but in the long run well worth the price difference. Have to say I'm disapponted it didn't come with a cover. Living in Mnnesota, this will be a necessity. All in all, very happy with this smoker/grill.

Just got my Rec Tec or Christmas and what a grill. My first pellet smoker was a traeger in 2007 and I thought that was great. I have read where Traeger has gone down hill since so I saw the great reviews of Rec Tec and all the reviews are spot on. First of all you wont believe the high quality of the parts and how heavy the unit is. It is very easy to put together and the huge hopper is a big plus. The thermostat keeps the temp right on the number and this is while is 20 degrees outside. What I did learn is all pellets are not created equal. The Rec Tec pellets gice the meat a wonderful flavor, not overpowering but just right. The grill has plenty of room i smoked 6 racks of iribs 6 beef short robs and a 9lb beer can chicken at the same time, this grill is a tremendous value for this price.

First, the crew at Rec Tec are the greatest. They personally called me after I placed my order. I called their support and they promptly called me back. (I read the instructions wrong, so it was not their fault at all) This grill is super well built and work great. I am so glad i did research before purchasing. I was leaning towards a Traeger, but after reading all the review I decided to go with the Rec Tec and could not be happier. I have already recommended it to several friends. This thing takes the guess work and constant tuning completely out of the equation. The grill is totally set it and forget it. (or should I say, set it and go have a few beers..lol) Best bang for your buck. None of the other grills in this price range even come close to the quality of this smoker. I cannot say enough good things about my Rec Tec.
Posted by Matt Hirn on 29th Dec 2014
The quality of the grill is everything that I was hoping for when I ordered it .
I have already cooked a pot roast and smoked two turkey breasts in it. The results were excellent , because the Rec Tec does the work of maintaining temperature and tending the fire.
The customer service is top notch, just as everyone has said. My shipment sat for a few days with no call from UPS to schedule delivery. I told the folks at Rec Tec about the delay and I received a call from UPS within the hour to schedule delivery.
I have no regrets for making this purchase. I will enjoy smoking/cooking on this grill for many years.

I purchased the rec tech grill for my husband for Christmas. The service was amazing, they were so helpful and I even have personal cell phone numbers of the owners. That kind of service is unheard of nowadays. He received it early and has cooked a few things on it, everything tasted phenomenal! this grill has definitely brought him to a new level with his barbecuing which was already awesome.

Arrived in good shape, assembly instructions were very good and all parts were there. Started right up and does an awesome job of cooking.
Heavy smoke button works great but instructions on how to use were not included. One quick call and problem solved.

A guest from Ohio at our bed and breakfast in South
Georgia (Inn at Still Pond) told us about a great smoker/grill that someone in Georgia made. He spoke so highly about it that we decided to purchase one. He was right. It is great. Although the fan was defective and the control panel had to be replaced along with the fan, the service was great. The customer service guy even offered to bring the part to us. From what we have experienced so far, these Augusta, Ga guys are great and their product is great.

I would have given 5 stars but shipping was very challenging and I ebded up with a replacement because the smoker was damaged. That said, customer service was great: professional, courteous and quick to resolve issues. We 've already smoked 2 turkeys, a rack of ribs and a trip tip roast because this is effortless to use. It keeps temp and is easy to clean.

I love this grill as a smoker. It great that I can set it on low and slow and then go to work or sleep & the temperature stays dead on. Food actual gets done when expected. That's new to me.
I am still going back to my Weber Kettle to do burgers and steaks. I just can get away from the charcoal flavor. I have been using a Weber for over 20 years.
I gave it a 4 Star, but that may be on me for not learning how to use it properly and it won't let me put 4.5.
The people with REC-TECH are great. Best customer service I have ever had. I live a few miles away from the store & I had scheduled to pick it up on a Thursday night, they work late. When I got there, some one had picked up the grill they had for me. I was very disappointed. They made it right by delivering an assembled grill the next morning to my house and didn't charge for delivery or assembly. Everyone makes mistakes. It's how you respond that counts. They give great customer service.
I feel bad about the 4 stars. I hope I can change it in the future when I learn more about using it.

The grille arrived well packaged, and unscathed. I was very impressed with the quality of construction for a grille in this price range. The selection of materials that are in this grille are heads and shoulders above the competition.
My first meal was a marinated elk roast, it was absolutely delicious, the grille maintained a very precise temperature throughout the process, it is simple to use and the large pellet hopper gives you the peace of mind that you won't run out of fuel on long cooks.

The past two years I have been smoking on an electric vertical smoker with above average results. Problem with the vertical smokers is lack of space width wise, anytime you cook a brisket or rack of ribs you have to cut them half just so they’ll fit. Not being much of a firebox on the side kind of guy, I went on the market for a pellet smoker. There are lots of pellet smokers out there and lots of reviews but for me Rec Tec was the only one that stood out.
After talking with Harry about the Rec Tec and purchasing options I was hooked.
Now I have only had it for several weeks but I’ve cooked very good tasting salmon, pork chops, and ribs and for the first time in my life I smoked a pork roast for pulled pork and man was it delicious. Can’t wait to smoke a brisket and try cooking a pizza on it.
No regrets buying this unit, Thanks Rec Tec!!!

After having my Rec Tec for three weeks, I have already smoked, grilled, and roasted on it. Last week I smoked chicken wings for 40 guests at an event we held. Last night, I roasted a pork rib roast that was so juicy and flavorful! No more burnt meat!
Prior to ordering, we were building an outdoor kitchen. I wanted to make sure the grill would fit, so I emailed customer service to ask for dimensions. They sent me four pages of detailed dimensions the next morning. Outstanding response time! The Rec Tec customer service was great by calling me the day I placed my order to let me know my grill would go out in that day's shipment, when to expect it to arrive, and to expect an informational envelope with my name handwritten inside the grill. Sure enough, the next day UPS called to schedule the delivery a few days later. And viola!...my personalized envelope was inside. I guarantee the competition does not have this attention to detail with their customer service. I now have three friends who are in the running to purchase their own Rec Tecs!

I am new to grilling with wood, and yet I was able to obtain great results after 1 or 2 tries. The construction of their pellet grill is much sturdiier than the leading competitors and looks way better too!. But what really impresses me is their customer service. I had a minor issue that was diagnosed over the phone in seconds, and a replacement part shipped out under warranty in minutes. They most definitely back up what they sell. Amazing company.

WE love our REX Tec... Yes "Rex"..... Everything good deserves it's own unique identity. So we say, "have you started "Rex" yet? It's not did you light the bar-'b-q yet? It's not like propane...it's easier! Push the button and you are off to the races.
There is a bit of a learning curve bbqing stuff....be patient....it's worth it... you're meat won't be tough. The only thing we wish the Rec Tec company should provide.....I just spent thirteen hundred, is your 18 buck cooking guide. It would save frustration...and make sales stronger. And help us novices, be Bar-B- Q novice's no longer.

Could not imagine the REC TEC would be as good as all the hype I read. Guess what? I was wrong. I am so tickled with my REC TEC. I have not burned one item since I got it. That is a big change for me. Always let my wife grill on the gas grill cause I burned everything I grilled due to flare ups. No more problems with that. Have done fabulous ribs, perfect London broil, the juiciest chicken breasts. Got the platinum package with all the extras. Worth every dime I spent. Will never use a different grill or smoker. Super durable, very precise thermostat. Just the word WOW says it all. Have called a few times with recipe and cooking questions and these guys are always there or call you back quick. Thanks guys for going the extra mile and then some with customer support and service after the sale. No regrets except I wish I had bought it sooner.

I've had my smoker for a few weeks now. I've used it to cook pulled pork, bacon, Cajun chicken, and even PIZZA. Everything came out delicious. When I ordered I was met with an outstanding customer service associate that was more than willing to explain to me the difference between their grill and their competitors. He had such confidence and pride in RecTec that he had no problem admitting other also make quality wood pellet grills. This sealed the deal for me. I ordered the same day and I wouldn't change a thing. Plus they welcomed me to the family and gave me the personal cell phone numbers for their owner. That just shows how confident they are that you'll love your RecTec

I've had my grill for about a year and will never go back to gas. So easy to cook with and amazing flavor. Customer service is like nothing I've seen. I called on a Sunday about a hour before the kickoff off the NFL season openers and Ray Carnes himself answered and walked me through how to take the auger apart after he came to the conclusion that my pellets may have become wet and swollen in the auger. He was right (the cover had blown off in a storm) and it was an easy fix and saved my football party! I even received follow up calls from other mangers the next day to make sure everything was ok.

I have waited to write this review until I got more use out of this grill. I plan to write again in a few years when I see how it is still doing... I got this grill I think in April or May... I knew nothing about smoking meats and making ribs. Our house is now the place to be for cookouts. People now call me asking questions on how to make things and I still have to explain what a rookie I am... they don't believe me because of the quality of food I can make. This grill is perfection in getting to and holding temperature. I can focus on the food because I know the grill will be spot on...
A few of my friends also got into BBQ this summer and they still struggle with trying to maintain proper temps. One fights with charcoal and another fights with his pellet grill... I fight with nothing. When I bought this I planned on putting it away for the winter because I thought it would be too hard in the cold and wind of North Dakota... Now I can't wait to try it and see how it goes... Because I know that I can!!
I have had absolutely zero reason to call for any type of support (they sent a bbq cookbook when I got the grill... great recipes!) but it is very comforting knowing that if I need the help that Rec-Tec will be there for me. They don't harass with emails, phone calls, and letters... they just checked in to make sure it was OK when I got it, wished me luck, and made sure that I knew they were here to help with anything from tech support to recipes. That is, to me, the benchmark of customer service.
If anyone in or around North Dakota wants to look at one of these before you purchase I will be more than happy to show mine off...

I don't normally do reviews because I fear if you give them a five star rating it tends to make the company get lax on their commitment. So far I don't think this is the case. I haven't used it very much but soon will. It does what they said it would do. Starts up easy. Maintains temperature as much as possible. Great customer service, call them anytime. Better warranty than the rest. I think the welds connecting all the main parts of the body should be more numerous and more substantial. Like someone else said, I thought it was made in the U.S.A., I sure wish it was, I would feel better about the purchase but, I understand. I think it would be a good selling point with a "Made in the U.S.A" sticker on the side even if it cost a "little" more, shipping from china must be expensive. They give you the name and phone numbers of the owners on a business card in case you need to call them, maybe I'll call someday and express my opinion. I gave them a four star rating for this reason.

After many hours researching for a Pellet Smoker in my price range, many calls to various companies, I ended up with this great product from RecTec. The process is great from purchase to cooking, they are willing to help with any questions, even to the point of texting recipes!! Really satisfied with the product and support. Cooked 8 pork butts for graduation and they turned out awesome, burgers have never tasted as good, and it stands up to the Vegas weather! Great product and support! Keep it going RecTec Team!

I have been smoking for some time and have used gas, electric and charcoal. At 75 years old I needed a smoker that did not require the constant attention, especially for long smokes. My Rec Tec does everything I was looking for, great smoker I love it.

Had the RECTEC for a week or so now and it's done great so far. Great solid build, stainless steel hardware (my Traeger bolts started rusting within a few weeks). Gets to temp quickly, holds temp, and any questions you may have get answered promptly. They even give you "emergency contact info for 24/7 service". Who does that for a grill?
The grill grates put a perfect sear on your burgers and steak!
Oh, and suddenly I'm a great cook. The wife and kids now ask what I'm grilling for dinner.
Couldn't be happier!

This is a very nice grill with a superb temperature control. I've been cooking with other pellet grills for several years and have come to accept the lackluster temp control. Not the case with this one. It goes to the temp set point and is rock solid regardless of outside temperature.
This is a well built grill with a high end feel and look. The hopper design is very nice and holds an entire 49lb bag of pellets....and to my surprise seems very efficient. I have had none of the jamming or purging issues in the feed auger, I think partially to do with the design of having the hopper in the back. This shortens the auger length which I think leads to better performance.
My only gripe is the lack of options for color. Not that the red is bad, in fact my wife really loves it.....and maybe that's the problem. :).
I wish there were options for color that were a bit less flashy is all.
Also, it's nice to call and talk to an actual, real, live person. Customer service is superb, shipping was fast and not overly expensive, and I feel like the product will be supported if I have an issue.... But I don't expect to have any at this point.
Overall, I'm very pleased so far with my choice.

Got our grill about a month ago, and love it! Got one of our friends to buy one a week after we got ours and they love it!
Everyone that sees it or enjoys a meal we cooked on it, thinks it is awesome too!
We have cooked brisket, chicken wings, meatloaf, ribs, whole chicken, pork loin, a bologna log, cobbler, corn on cob, & veggies. Everything turned out great with so much flavor.
Customer service has been excellent, from sales to delivery and even questions about the grill.
Definitely worth the investment. I would recommend this grill to anyone looking to buy a pellet grill. Features are definitely above other pellet grills.
Thanks for the great product. We are planning on many years of putting it to use!

I am in love with this grill. I've grilled burgers, sausage, pork chops, chicken, and even pizza. I also smoked a pork butt. Everything has turned out so juicy. The pizza crust was nice and crispy. Its so easy to use and temperature fluctuations are minor.

Took about 30 minutes to put together, with the folding shelf. Very well made. Very well packed. Sure beats the Traeger that I had. Holds Temp very well. Added a gasket to the top of the lid to keep the top from getting sooty and dirty. The hopper lid hinges, rivets, will need to be drilled out and redone because they came loose, but overall a great grill.

I bought this for my lake house so we can put meat on and go out fishing . When you get in at dark dinner is ready. Smoke is not too heavy so no need to wrap meat to stop the smoke. I have multiple girls in my life but this is the set it and forget grill. Just go back when cooking time is up and it is ready. Ribs, buts, brisket even large enough to cook 2 shoulder clods. My cut of choice to feed large crowds.

My husband went on and on about food he had from his buddy's RecTec and told me we just had to get one ... so we did!! And it did not let us down! Now I get to rave about it just as much as he did!

I took a long time and did my research before ultimately buying the Rec Tec Grill. I am glad I bought it. The versatility of this rugged grill makes it a must have for back yard chefs. The best thing about it is that it holds the set temperature with minimal fluctuation. This is the secret to consistently good food. For many meals, set it and forget it is the recipe. Your biggest problem is that you will cook too much food!!!
Customer service is great.
Financing was available.
Assembly was easy; it took me less than an hour by myself.

I agree with everyone else. In this price range (and maybe out of it) you can't do much better. Quality construction and function. I have already had the pleasure of their customer service experience. They are concerned with you as a customer and they go above and beyond.
Looking forward to a long term grilling relationship with this RecTec.
Did I mention that it looks Bad Ass?

For more than 40 years I've had to hang around the pit to monitor the heat but no more since I purchased the Rec-Tec. So far, I've cooked chicken and a pork shoulder and they both turned out tender and moist. The only thing I have to work on is the right mixture of wood pellets. Excuse my attempt at being humorous but the 'yankee wood' mixture (cherry and hickory) just doesn't infuse enough strong smoke flavor for my taste. I now have some mesquite pellets and a smoke tube to try on my next cook.

I have bought 3 RecTec grills (so far). one for myself and then one each for one of my sons and for my brother. I owe another son one once his home remodeling has been completed. My display malfunctioned after some 18 months. A call to the company and I had a new unit in less than 3 days. Great service and a great product.

The Rec Tec is very well made, and the "fit & finish" is excellant. The controller is very simple to use, and gets to the set temperature quickly. The Rec Tec holds the temperature very well with usually less than a 5 degrees difference from the set temp. The smoke generated from the grill is very good, and provides a continuous smoke throughout the cooking process. The Rec Tec is very easy on pellet consumption, especially compared to my Yoder Smoker Grill. I am using the Rec Tec in Minnesota, and plan to cook on it all year round, ( not your "fair weather pitmaster"), so a thermal blanket would be a great addition to this grill. Please let me know ASAP once one is available.
I smoked a small brisket on it for 12 hours, and it turned out great, with 1/4 inch smoke ring around the outer edge of the meat. My "Better Than Steakhouse Steaks", BTSS, were great, and had a really enjoyable mesquite flavor to them.
Compared to other grills on the market, I feel the Rec Tec gives the best value for the money, and can compete very well against any other smoker grill. The customer service has been excellent, and your video on how to put the grill together was very complete, to where I hardly looked at the intstructions that came with the grill.
Very happy with the grill, and expect to have years of wonder food cooked on this grill.

I just got my Rec-Tec, my first pellet grill a week ago. this thing is amazing. I have already done ribs, pork-chops and my wife is planning on making some cookies this week. I am so excited to see where my Rec-Tec will take me in my cooking repertoire. Great system. awesome looks. It is now officially referred to as The Beast.

This is my first pellet grill, and after several weeks of researching different products, I bought a Rec Tec with platinum package. Assembly was a breeze, took less than an hour with the help of my 14 year old daughter.
Reverse seared a thick ribeye on my RT and it was better than any steak I have ever eaten... posted a pic on Rec Tec ' s facebook page if you wanna check it out. Very happy with the results so far.

So far I'm impressed overall with this grill. Arrived in very good condition, just a few blemishes (paint). Only cooked about 3 times so far and food has turned out great every time. The unit is well made and the smart grill technology is very easy to use.
Talking with the guys, there may be some tweaking needed to dial in temps if you see a delta in how the grill reads compared to a probe from a digital thermometer. This may not be necessary at all, but if you do see some variance, the great customer service will take care of you.
So far the only build issue I've seen is with the hopper lid as the hinges on the back don't seem to be as secure as they should be. After a few open and close cycles, they are getting loose. I've thought about putting a small chain one one side to keep the lid from opening all the way and putting strain on the hinges. This might be a nice upgrade or redesign thought.
Above all, the customer service is outstanding and in this world off online help, forums, tutorials and sometimes not even a phone number you can call, RecTec gets it right.

OK, I have had a WSM and an old bradley, but I'm loving tthe RecTec! I have not had a chance to use it much but after burning it off, I threw some bacon on it with the combo pellets. OMG, I have been having a pettet chub for a week! Right after that, I did up a donair loaf for two hours and it had a nice ring with a subtle taste. I think my next addition will be to build an auxiliary fish tank air pump driven smoke pot. That way I can get the flavor profile from other woods! (I'm going to try Saskatoon berry)
This thing is heavy and solid. I look forward to getting off this jobsite and being home to test the hell out of it!
The delivery to Canada was pretty painless. Was a little surprised at the "duty" (7 or 8%) charged on top of the GST and brokerage charge.... (free trade my ass) but still a value over what I could get locally

I have had my REC TEC grill for about 3 weeks and love it. Smoked pork; chicken and fish and all came out great. Smoke flavor is less than with my old WSM. I purchased but haven't used the smoke tube (wanted to try without it first) and believe that will give me the flavor that I want. Highly recommend purchasing the Grill Searing Kit and have used it for burgers sausage, pork chops and chicken breasts with great results. Grill gives great wood flavor and meat is much moister than with propane.
I would definitely buy it again and highly recommend it to you.

Bought this after seeing a few of my friends smokers from other manufacturers. Very happy we went with the Rec Tec. Easy to assemble, solid construction. The hopper is HUGE and the controller is great. Everything I've cook on it has come out with fantastic flavor.

Customer service is outstanding and the grill arrived on time and in perfect shape.
This is my first pellet grill and since I live in Texas, the expectations were pretty high. I cooked a 15 pound brisket in about 15-1/2 hours and the family and guests absolutely loved it! Put it on at 6 pm Saturday and by mid morning Sunday it was ready. Never opened the lid until near the very end just to wrap in foil and finish cooking the last 2 hours. When the meat reached 205F it was done.
Takes all the guess work and fuss out of the process. Great product! Recommend the digital thermometer with remote monitor as well!

I bought a Rec Tec about a month ago, I have smoked Ribs, Chicken, Pizza, Brisket, Pork Butt, Burnt Ends, and Prime Rib on it so far. i have used an electric for years and this is even easier than that. The taste and smoke ring from it are unreal.

We try to buy Grass Fed whenever possible, and the best results with this type of meat is a slow cook. This Grill sets itself up to that perfectly with the added bonus of smoke. We could not be happier. Bon Appetite!

Easy to put together and easy to use. Made first mistake using 100% Hickory pellets, way too much flavor. Be sure to mix Hickory with other pellets. Second try was great.

I have smoked peanuts. Grilled burgers, hot dogs and steak. Grilled fish. Slow smoked racks of ribs and a pork shoulder. And that was just the first week!
All came out top notch. Grill marks on the steak and burgers.... smoke rings on the pork shoulder and ribs.
This is a heavy duty, well built beast. I had a charcoal grill, upright smoker and a Weber gas grill on the patio. Now I just need the Rec Tec!

I have been working with a Cookshack FEC-120 pellet smoker for the past year, and have been researching pellet smokers/grills for my own use over the past few months. I finally decided to give the Rec-Tec guys a shot and I'm so glad I did. Everything is top notch, and ti's perfect for the caterings I do, or the back yard parties being thrown almost semi-monthly. I highly suggest the Rec-Tec Pellet Smoker. It is worth every penny.

Just what i was looking for, the taste of wood smoke without the hassle of tending to a fire. Assembly was a breeze due to the quality of the grill materials. I have cooked ribs, butts, pizzas, bacon, chicken, hot dogs and steaks and the difference in taste was exactly what i wanted. The searing grates are a must if you want wood fired grilled burgers and steaks. An awesome grill and a awesome team to deal with.

First experience with Rec Tec - a call from one of the owners 15 minutes after ordering it via internet. He wanted to make sure the order was correct. His parting words, "Welcome to the Rec Tec family".
2nd experience - An email saying the grill had shipped, accompanied by an instruction manual.
3rd experience - The grill was delivered without a blemish, well packed.
4th experience - I put it together in less than an hour. All parts were present, the instructions were clear, and everything worked.
5th experience - The best grilled salmon I've ever made.
6th experience - The best corn on the cob I've ever tasted.
7th experience - Great burgers.
Looking forwards to our next experience.

I am a complete rookie to pellet grill cooking. Gas and charcoal sure, but never pellets. I am completely converted. Brisket was incredible, salmon perfect, NY Strip crazy good. This machine is incredible.
The company has great customer service skills. Called me after my order to fill me in on the plan and offer personal assistance. Best in class there. Grill was very simple to assemble and get started.
I can't believe how much i want to cook now. Thanks REC TEC!!!

Still early days yet to actually give a perfect review; but so far so good. If I had one gripe it would be that the product is made overseas and then shipped to the REC TEC factory. I get why it is made in China, unfortunately I just taught the product was made in the good ole USA.

Rock solid construction. It is a blast to cook with. I ordered my grill directly from Rec-Tec. The first grill came but was damaged by the shipping company. I called Ben @ Rec-Tec and he immediately got another one on a truck. We've been enjoying it ever since.
